HoofGrid and HoofGrid HD
========= General Product Comparisons and Appropriate Uses ========
[PLEASE NOTE: At the manufacturer's request, in this US market introduction we are now branding the Equestrian Footing and Flooring System as "HoofGrid."
This is The German Original equestrian footing and flooring grid system, installed and tested in Europe for decades. This is not a hurry-up, untested, unproven, knock-off imitation.]
The following price structures are presented for you consideration. Please read it at your convenience, but please carefully note the differences between the two grades, there is a reason for providing the consumer two options.
For your specific locations, knowledge of the special requirements may be critical in your search for durable, functional Equine Footing & Flooring System.
The climactic/environmental special conditions involved in At-Altitude/Semi-Arid environments require special information. I can go into It at length with you. The only environmental concern involves outdoor hot ground temperatures in sunny summer days. If the system is left exposed to the sun for long periods, it may expand up to 1.5%. It is designed to be elastic, and in such engineered products expansion is a positive aspect of their design. In a 150 foot arena, this would be an extra 2.25 feet of flooring that has to go somewhere. It ends up buckling. That is why - for special conditions - we provide the extra heavy-duty HD grids. ECO-TERR allows that the customer is best able to judge their local soil and climate conditions. Please choose wisely. Call us if you are uncertain of which grid is best for your installation.
HoofGrid (3cm.)
Outdoor installations:
If a top layer of sand is maintained, the expansion joints engineered within the grids' structure will prevent buckling.
However, if this 'standard grade' HoofGrid is exposed to the sun for long periods - without maintaining a minimum top layer - its ability to resist buckling under such conditions is reduced.
Indoor installations: The grids' durability is not affected by indoor conditions, it will remain strong and flexible from -30 to +180 degrees Fahrenheit.
HoofGrid HD (5cm.)
For most conditions, the standard grade HoofGrid is sufficient for most equestrian and residential applications.
HoofGrid HD is indicated for summer Alpine or Desert conditions, where it may not be possible to maintain a minimum top layer AND the grids may be left exposed to the sun for long periods of time.
Their only differences:
Due to their 40% deeper construction, the HoofGrid HD will not buckle, even if exposed for long periods to hot sun and ground temperatures.
However, because of its deeper walls, HoofGrid HD requires little or no foundation work or top layer.
Therefore, many times its slightly greater initial cost is offset by its reduced installation and future maintenance costs: little-or-no-foundation work, and no top layer, are required.
The above special conditions advisory is provided by the Manufacturer. He lives in the Alps, has a long experience in this narrow field of expertise, and is extremely knowledgeable concerning both this product, as well as all the other manufacturers' products you may be considering. He is well familiar with the American Rocky Mountains, and therefore strongly suggests that for outdoor installations in Alpine conditions, we only suggest the heavier duty HoofGrid HD for such locations. Desert conditions should be considered comparable.]
Which is right for you?
If all four of the following conditions apply to your location, please consider the Heavy Duty grids:
(1) wind, and
(2) sun, and
(3) hot ground and
(4) no top cover.
If the wind blows the top cover off your arena while you are on vacation in August, and you may not be able to correct the situation within a day or two, HoofGrid HD should be used.
